Music for 2011 - 12
Royal and Regal
Alba Brass and Pentland Singers Saturday 8th October, Balerno Parish Church 1-2pm
Part of the Balerno Music Festival
Composers have known for centuries that the combination of the human voice and brass is a powerful and utterly majestic force. Join us in this concert that will feature music from Venetian Renaissance right through to the present day. Highlights will include Handel's mighty coronation anthem, Zadok the Priest Bach's Jesu, Joy and music by the American composer Michael Kamen.

After last years epic Melodies and Musicals sell out, we bring to you an evening of Choruses from the Gilbert and Sullivan partnership and well known classical composers such as Verdi, Bizet, Boradin and Wagner.

Reflections and Aspirations

To mark the end of our singing year we are delighted to give the world premiere of a new choral work by Scottish composer Alasdair Spratt, written especially for the Pentland Singers. We will also feature music by the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, New Zealand composer Douglas Lilburn, British composer Cecilia McDowall, and a bit of Beethoven to top it all off!
