| Home | Pentland Singers ConcertsThe choir sings a wide range of music, varying from large choral works to traditional, popular and spiritual music. Four concerts are performed each year, two in early December and two in early June. These performances are a mix of classical pieces and other works, usually to a theme. Our next concert will be on December 1st and 2nd 2010. Summer concert, 2 and 3 June 2010 - An Atlantic Crossing. This concert was a celebration of folksongs from both sides of the Atlantic which have served as inspiration for many composers. The influence of folksong can clearly be heard in Five Mystical Songs, settings of George Herbert's poetry for choir and baritone soloist by Vaughan Williams. The concert also included modern arrangements of three well-loved Scots songs and a selection of songs by the American Aaron Copland. The Junior Choir started tonight with a very well known sea shanty – Drunken Sailor. They then took us further afield with songs from Canada and Spain. We were delighted to welcome our guest baritone soloist Andrew McTaggart. Our conductor is Sarah Forbes and accompanist Joe Doody. Pictures of the concert are available to view. Through the generosity of our audiences, and from members, the choir has made donations to over one hundred charitable organisations within the members catchment area.
