Our Christmas Concert took place at Balerno High School. The programme started with well loved excerpts from Handel's Messiah, led by our Musical Director Sarah Forbes. We were accompanied by Sebastian Thirlway on the piano and a string quartet - Claire Yim, Paul Anderson, Tim Vincent-Smith and Meghan Perry. We welcomed back Joanne Holton as the soprano solo. The Pentland Junior Singers led us back into the 21st century with some more modern musical celebrations of Christmas. In the second half of the programme, there was a selection of Christmas music, familiar and new.
As we were singing the Hallelujah Chorus, we were able to be a part of the BBCs Hallelujah Project.

The summer concert took place in Balerno High School. We sang three versions of the Gloria: the well known and loved Vivaldi, plus an excerpt from John Rutter's take on the same words and a version by David Giardiniere. Each very different, and we hope you enjoyed them all. There was also a strong African influence in our concert, with a selection of Gospel songs and Spirituals and some traditional songs from South Africa and Zimbabwe.
The Pentland Junior Singers performed a selection of songs from the Musicals. We were also pleased to welcome soloists from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Joanne Holton and Beth Mackay sang solos with the choir and Joanne sang pieces by Mozart and Handel. Tom Poulson played the trumpet accompaniment to the Rutter Gloria and also gave us a solo item.
Our pianist was Ben Fowler and our Conductor was Sarah Forbes.

Our
Christmas concert took place in Balerno High School. It featured Christmas
music of different styles, including two versions of O Magnum Mysterium, one
modern, one ancient, Taverner's The Lamb, Carols from South America and many
other favourite pieces. The Pentland Junior Singers presented us with a selection
of items, and we had guest soloists, Xiaolu Lu and Zoe Challenor on Wednesday
and Zoe Challenor and Steven Phillips on Thursday. Our conductor was Sarah
Forbes and our accompanist Florence Kinnear. A programme with something for
everyone.

Our
Summer Concert was held in June in Balerno High School at 7.30 each
night. The featured work was Randall Thompson's setting of poetry by Robert
Frost. This set the theme of poetry in music, and we presented a selection
of music of many styles. The Pentland Junior Singers made their contribution
too.

We make donations to charities from the proceeds of our concerts.
